River

You’re out with ‘friends’ one night, planning a party, and every one of them starts to annoy you. Everyone has his/her own opinion on how things should be handled. Two of them definitely want balloons and a strawberry cake, while three definitely want something low-key and a vanilla cake. You are the sixth and standing alone, wanting a strawberry cake and a gold decoration.

So you begin to bicker. No compromise is in sight. No voting or no final decision is made. And, not any of the six people have learned anything. Does it sound like a good environment to be in?

How about this: you’re out with ‘friends’ one night, planning a party. Everyone has his/her own opinion on how things should be handled. While two out of six want balloons and a strawberry cake, three of them want a modest deco and a vanilla cake, and you want a strawberry cake+gold decoration. So, you either have them all, have a poll or call/text to the actual friend that the party is for just to know what they like.

Does that sound like a compromise and listening to other people?

The first situation actually happened to a friend of mine with the details slightly changed. The reason I know it so well was the constant bickering for about two weeks via texting, so I heard a lot. Too much, probably! The energy, the environment, was completely bonkers: bad. Like a tornado in a thunderstorm, which swept your car in.

Other people hold a certain energy, and that creates the environment.
